project description

Under contract to Zone 7 Water Agency, Barb took their Schools Program from a single lesson funded by a small grant taught at a handful of schools, and grew it into a wildly successful program that now includes more than 450 classroom presentations each year in the Livermore-Amador Valley. Barb worked with teachers under her direction to develop dynamic, informative lessons and leave-behinds tailored to each grade-level. Every classroom presentation conveyed knowledge critical to the students’ understanding of the local water situation, and underscored their obligations as future stewards of their environment.

Barb taught high school-level lessons to students in Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin for five years, and gave similar presentations to the general public at Water Conservation and Gardening workshops sponsored by Zone 7 Water Agency. She also developed all of the Zone 7 Schools Program’s promotional materials and giveaways. She also designed interactive booths for middle school Science Fairs and other public education events, including some at Livermore National Laboratory.
